In my homily this weekend, I refer to the document Disciples Called to Witness. Parishioners, please take the time to read through it (it’s not terribly long or difficult) so we can continue the conversation on how to evangelize here in Phillips County.

Also, here’s where you can order the US Catholic Catechism for Adults.

KofC Council 2124 is raffling off the winner’s choice of a Honda Rancher ES 4×4 ATV or a golf cart with a set of custom-fit clubs. This morning, the ATV was delivered at St. Mary’s Church, and is on display between the rectory and church.

Stop by and check it out! Contact a member of KofC Council 2124 for tickets.

Congratulations to the Malta Mustangs for winning the State Class B Boys Basketball Championship! Way to go, Mustangs!

PCCW Ladies: The time has come to begin shopping to gather things for this year’s Mardi Gras Baskets, so please notify your band members. You can bring your baskets to the church basement KC room. We can wrap them if you don’t want to, but make sure to label them so we know which month it is from. Please make sure each basket is quite full, with approximately $100 in products. They should be turned in by April 23rd, and include with your basket a list of items so we know what is in them. Also remember one large dessert per month to bring to the Mardi Gras, as our dessert bar last year was a BIG hit! Please call to let us know who will be bringing it.

Themes for each month’s baskets:

  • January – Grandchildren Fun
  • February – Summer Barbecue
  • March – Little Girl Playtime
  • April – Gardening Time
  • May – Game Night
  • June – Spa Day
  • July – Campout
  • August – Mr. Fix-it
  • September – Crafty
  • October – New Baby Boy
  • November – New Baby Girl
  • December – Homemade in Malta (Made in Montana)

If you have any questions, call Colleen Murray at 654-1763 or Cathy Salsbery at 654-2798. If you’d like to change your basket theme or if you need ideas, just let us know. Also let us know if you know of anyone who is crafty with wood that would like to make an item. We do have many in our church group that are talented!

Thank you in advance! We hope to be as successful as last year.

Join CRS Operation Rice Bowl this Lent! orb.crs.org

As we did last year, St. Mary’s will be participating in Catholic Relief ServicesOperation Rice Bowl. ORB is an easy way to help those throughout the world who benefit from the work done by Catholic Relief Services. A little spare change can go a long way!

The “rice bowls” will be given to the Religious Education students on Wednesday, February 15th, with the remaining bowls available at the weekend Masses in Malta. Please pick one up and join in this simple yet powerful Lenten practice. Catholic Relief Services’ Operation Rice Bowl invites us to pray with our families and parish community, fast in solidarity with those who are hungry, learn about our brothers and sisters around the world, and give sacrificial contributions to help those in need.

From Anne Boothe:

The Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW) delivered over 40 plates of wonderful cookies and candies to parish and community members in need of some Christmas Cheer on Wednesday December 14th.  After packaging  the goodies, ladies enjoyed a soup supper and special devotional on the meaning of “swaddling” prepared by Madeline Itcaina.  The best part of the evening was delivering the trays and extending wishes for a Merry Christmas to all the recipients.

Thank you to everyone to attended and especially those who made and donated the delicious treats.
